Welcome!

Hello friends and family! Welcome to our baby blog. We are thrilled to begin this new adventure in our lives by creating and welcoming a new life into this world! Over the years we've been fortunate to have your constant love and support. We've maintained strong friendships with those we've known since elementary school, reminicsed about memories with family at holiday gatherings, beach vacations, birthdays, and also created new memories and lasting friendships throughout high school, college and the real world life experiences that everyone faces as they grow into adults. You are the people in our lives that have shaped who we are today and we are thankful for each and every one of you. Wes and I hope that our baby will be as lucky as we are, and because of our present relationships-- he or she will be off to a great start! Many of you live right around the corner in good 'ol Lancaster, PA. However, some of you have ventured to various states to start your own adventures! We wanted to create this blog so that everyone is able to follow us throughout our pregnancy and feel close, no matter the distance. That being said...enjoy and check back weekly for updates from Wes and I:) We love you and God bless!

Weeks 34-36

Hello all! We are down to just 4 weeks until baby girl is due and because of recent events, we may be expecting her a little early! Let's recap the past few weeks...

A big THANK YOU to those who came to the shower and/or sent gifts! It was a beautiful and memorable day spent with friends and family. I truly appreciate the support and generosity from you all:) After setting blankets and bedding up in the nursery, washing adorable clothes and toys, and properly putting together gadgets, we finally feel prepared:)

Last week was a bit exciting and stressful at the same time. On Thursday morning I woke early with some bleeding and called my OB right away. After spending an hour at the OB office getting monitored and having a cervical exam the Dr. concluded that I was 1 cm dilated, baby girl was head down, and I was having regular contractions. She suggested that I go over to Women's and Babies Hospital for more monitoring. My mom and I spent another 3 hours there and she got to see an ultrasound:) Thankfully everything looked great on the US, but before they released me, the Dr. told us that I need to be prepared to go into labor any day! Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We will be sure to keep you all updated and let you know when we welcome our sweet blessing into this world!

Weeks 32-33

Hello everyone! First and foremost, we want to express our extreme gratitude for all the prayers and well wishes everyone has given us over the past few weeks. We are so blessed to have each and every one of you in our lives. Last week we went to see Maternal Fetal Medicine and the specialist assured us that he sees no reason to be concerned about baby girl's health!  She is just going to be a petite baby:) Her overall growth is in now in the 24th percentile and her head circumference is measuring around the 30th percentile.   Wes and I are so relieved and can hopefully be stress free for last 7 weeks of my pregnancy!!

Other news...I had maternity photos done last week by our friend and professional photographer, Howie Hartman of Double H Media and Photography. He is awesome! I'm sure some of you have seen them on Facebook, but I posted two amazing images below. I can't wait to see the rest! Howie will also be doing our newborn photos in May:)

And I just have to share this-it has nothing to do with baby girl, but I'm being a proud wife:) Wes has been doing some amazing artwork lately: tattoos as well as paintings. Please take some time to visit his facebook page and check out his art. He's awesome!

Thanks for reading, and supporting us every step of the way over the last 33 weeks. We love you all and can't wait for baby girl to arrive!

Weeks 28-31

Goodmorning!! Here we go-it's the final countdown! Time sure does fly and things have become more real since we have finished the nursery! Check out our photos below:)

This post is going to be short-as many of you know, the past 2 weeks have been very stressful. After a second ultrasound last week, we have been referred to a Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist because our little girl is just that-LITTLE! She is below the 15th percentile and the doctors are a bit concerned about her growth progression. Another ultrasound next week will give us more answers. We are optimistic that she is just a petite baby and pray that she will be in perfect health. Of course, we are so lucky to have a fabulous support system...your words of encouragement and prayers are deeply appreciated and I thank you all for being there for us. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Hopefully we will have great news to report next week!

Weeks 22-27

Happy New Year!! Hopefully all of you had a wonderful Holiday and if it was anything like ours, you were probably very busy celebrating with friends and family! It was wonderful to see old friends, create memories with new friends, and see family members whom we don't see often enough. Christmas this year was fabulous. Wes and I woke early and pondered the thought of our "last Christmas morning" as a couple; next year we will be a family of 3. We are so excited to meet our little girl! She isn't even born yet, but was showered with gifts and lots of love this Christmas.
It's hard to believe how quickly time has gone bye...I just entered my 27th week (3rd trimester is only 1 week away!) of pregnancy and my belly is growing rapidly. I'm still feeling pretty good, despite a lingering battle with bronchitis and new symptoms that make my body uncomfortable. My last appointment was yesterday and I was diagnosed with a fairly common disorder-Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction which is caused by my body producing too much of the hormone relaxin. It affects my pelvis and causes a lot of pain and pressure in my lower abdomen. I'm hoping it doesn't get worse, but I guess these are the things that come along with pregnancy! My mom came to this appointment with me and she was thrilled to hear baby girl's heartbeat:) The midwife continues to assure us that we have a healthy and happy baby girl!
Wes and I also started Birth Class last week! It's actually a lot of fun and we are learning all sorts of tips and techniques for the birthing process. We also started getting things ready at home. Our nursery is finally coming along! We decided to go with grey walls/white trim and are pulling fuschia and turquoise from the bedding to accent the room using pillows and artwork. It's going to look fabulous! I'm lucky to have such an amazing husband, soon to be father. It's awesome to see his excitement:) It's also been fun and comforting to talk to one of my best friends, Shannon, who is also expecting (TWINS) this spring:) My cousin is pregnant as well and it's so wonderful to know you have the support of others who understand what you're going through. Thank you all for your constant love and once again, we are so blessed to have you in our lives!

Weeks 18-21

IT'S A GIRL!!
This was an exciting week for us! On Monday we had our 1st ultrasound at 9am and the technician announced baby Schulz is a little girl! The entire experience was wonderful; it was the first time we actually saw our baby which makes the pregnancy much more real! She was moving and kicking her tiny feet, opening her mouth and evening trying to suck her thumb! She is 13 ounces, 10 inches and in the 46th percentile for 20 weeks. The tech also expressed her delight in the fact that baby girl cooperated perfectly, and looks like a healthy, happy, and growing baby. We are thrilled beyond belief and so excited to meet her in only 19 more weeks! We haven't decided on a name yet, and even if we do, we are going to keep it private until her birth. It was so hard keeping it in all day (I actually told my best friends over lunch-which my mom was not happy about! LOL)! We had the immediate family over Monday evening for the unveiling of a pink cake and they were so happy for us-it was wonderful to share the news with such amazing friends and family throughout the day. Thank you ALL for your love, support, and excitement for our baby girl:)

Weeks 16-18

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Holiday season is here and I'm so glad that the time seems to be flying by! In just another 21 weeks we will have a healthy newborn baby:) I had my 18 week check-up this past Monday and my best friend Angee was my support for the day. I'm so glad she could come with me and experience hearing baby Schulz's heartbeat! Our hearts were beating together so it was hard to isolate the baby's heartbeat, but the doctor finally got the doppler in the perfect spot to hear just the baby alone. I also scheduled the ultrasound after the appointment, and I'm excited to announce that we will find out the sex on December 5th (also my good friend Julie's birthday!!). I'm already feeling movement-like little bumps and bubble bursts in my belly-so the doctor is optimistic that the baby will be moving around enough to see "that special area". Wes and I have no preference whether it's a boy or girl-it will be loved no matter what and and we ask for your prayers that it is healthy! Other than that, nothing is new-I still feel great and my belly is growing (check out the new photo below). We can't wait to see family and friends this week and wish you all a wonderful holiday break. I'll update after 12/5!

Week 14-16

So far we've had 3 doctors appointments and everything seems right on track! I was a bit disappointed at our 10 week check up when we couldn't hear the heartbeat, but luckily it came through strong at 152 BPM at the week 14! It was amazing to hear the beating heart of such a small life growing inside of me. I admit--I was emotional and cried. Wes was equally as happy, sans the tears:)
I haven't had any morning sickness and feel so lucky to be feeling so great. Hopefully I continue to feel good! I've also regained some energy that I did not have in the first trimester. Now I come home after a day of substitute teaching and feel the need to clean and tidy the house (even though I probably did the same thing 24 hours prior!). I've been trying to stay active by going to the gym--although I can't workout as hard as I did before. My 30 minute runs are now 20 minute walks. But hey! They say that the more physically active you are, the easier the labor, so I do what I can:) The only symptoms I've had are tiny stretching cramps in my side and upper abdomen, which the doctor says is due to the shifting of organs and growing uterus. And YES-I am growing...I love when my girlfriends see me each week and notice my bump-it's exciting when others can tell I'm pregnant now. I guess I'll have to go shopping for maternity clothes soon!
We've decided to find out the sex of our baby, but we won't know for another 4 weeks! I THINK we will announce it, but will probably keep the name a secret. Well, that's it for now...thanks for reading. We love you all!
